Born in Edinburgh, Andrew is a priest in the Scottish Episcopal Church, now licensed by the Bishop of Edinburgh as Chaplain to Emmaus House, and has served for twenty years in local churches and in selection and training roles for candidates for ministry. In addition, Andrew works as a spiritual director, retreat conductor and life coach; most importantly, he’s a proud Dad to three young people, all working in the arts.
Janet Matthews (semi-retired)
Growing up in Northern Ireland, Janet experienced the joys of country life but also the hardship of “the Troubles”.
A nurse, midwife and lecturer, Janet brings experience in caring and support for those in need, working with young people and educational development. Janet is now a registered cognitive behavioural therapist having successfully completed a COSCA accredited course in Glasgow at the Centre for Therapy Glasgow. She offers CBT one to one and in groups. Janet has had the privilege of working alongside clients who are committed to work for change so they now live fuller happier lives.
Initially hired as a part time housekeeper, Jamie is now a full-time member of the team having been with Emmaus House for over two years. Born in Peru and adopted 6 months after birth he has spent nearly his whole life in Edinburgh, only leaving to attend the University of Aberdeen. He graduated in 2014 and found Emmaus House while looking for a temporary job. Two years on and he’s still very happy working here and looks to continue for the foreseeable future.
